Following the general elections in Gabon, the military announced on live TV yesterday that the election results have been annulled and all government institutions are hereby dismissed.

According to reports, Ali Bongo who has been in power since 2009, won the election by fraudulent means.

In several videos making the rounds online, the people appeared pleased with the military coup and took to the street in solidarity, celebrating the end of a dictatorship.

In another video, the people were seen taking pictures happily with the soldiers on the street in support of the dismissal of president Ali Bongo.

Since the coup, president Ali Bongo pleaded with the public to come to his rescue as he is now under house arrest and doesn't know where his family is.
