Manchester United's hope of qualifying for the next round of the Champions League is currently hanging after a 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in Turkey.

However, Galatasaray's first goal shouldn't have stood. Former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech scored a free kick for the Turkish side.

Galatasaray have two players in the wall as the former Chelsea player took the free kick from outside the box.

It was revealed that due to the distance between the ball and the wall, which was around 61 centimeters, the goal should have been chalked off.

The Rules state that "all attacking players must be at least a meter away from the defending team, as there are three or more players in the wall."

Manchester United went ahead with a two-goal lead through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

In the 55th minute, Scott McTominay scored the third goal of the game with the hope that they were going to win the match.

Ziyech scored the second goal of the match from a free kick, which was on the other side, with a howler on the Andre Onana side.

Galatasaray substitute Muhammed Kerem Akturkoglu scored a wonder goal to send Manchester United's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League into the mud.

What Manchester United Needs to Qualify for the Next Round of the Champions League

Every Manchester United fan wants to see their team qualify for the next round of the Champions League, and some hopes can be achieved.

If the club wants to qualify for the next round of the tournament, they need to beat Bayern Munich in the next match on December 12, 2023.

Beating Bayern Munich may be the most difficult thing to do, but Manchester United have been a high scoring side in the Champions League this season.

Thomas Tuchel, who had a bit of history against Manchester United, may not consider starting a young side despite the German qualification being confirmed.

On the other side, Manchester United needs Galatasaray and Copenhagen to play a draw to qualify for the next round.

The encounter will happen on December 12, 2023, at the Copenhagen home.

Why Manchester United fans don't need the club to play in the Europa League

A lot of Manchester United fans want their club to be totally out of the Champions League to enable them to focus on the Premier League and the FA Cup.

They don't want the club to play a Thursday football game.

This is because it may cause fixture congestion and fatigue on the part of the players.

Manchester United has dealt with several injury crises this season.
