Garry Neville, a prominent figure on Sky Sports, has lauded the impact of Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham Hotspur's recent performance, expressing admiration for the team's resurgence under his leadership.

He has however urged the Manchester City hierarchy to appoint Ange Postecoglou when Pep Guardiola leaves the club.

There have been question marks surrounding the future of Pep Guardiola with his contract expiring in the next two years.

A couple of names have been suggested with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi a strong candidate to replace the former Barcelona boss.

Neville stated this after watching Tottenham Hotspur defeat Nottingham Forest 2:0 on Friday, December 15, 2023.

He further assessed the similarities in the way the Australian tactician plays and that of Pep Guardiola's team.

According to Neville, the Spurs gaffer will be the ideal replacement for the Spanish coach when he calls it quits on his time at the Etihad.

How Ange Postecoglou Transformed Tottenham Hotspur

Since Ange Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, the club has undergone a significant positive transformation.

The team displayed an undefeated streak in their opening ten games, but they failed to win any of their last five matches despite taking the lead in all the matches.

They have however won back-to-back games, showcasing a dynamic and vibrant style of play under his guidance.

Following their 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, where Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski netted goals, Tottenham Hotspur positioned themselves just one point behind the premier league log's triple winners.

Garry Neville, a former Manchester United legend, extolled Postecoglou's influence, highlighting his remarkable achievement in revitalizing a previously unremarkable Tottenham Hotspur into a team known for its attractive football.

Postecoglou's Attacking Approach and Philosophy

Initially met with skepticism, Postecoglou swiftly validated his appointment by steering Tottenham towards a new era of football.

Departing from the more pragmatic styles of former managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, Postecoglou's approach prioritizes attacking football, a shift further emphasized by Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich.

Postecoglou's impact transcends the field, extending to the club's strategic direction. Unlike his predecessors' focus on experienced signings, Postecoglou's philosophy emphasizes building for the future.

Notably, the recent addition of young talent Ashley Phillips from Blackburn reinforces this strategy, aligning with the signings of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison, all under the age of 25.

This forward-looking approach reflects a long-term vision under Postecoglou's leadership.

While the club aimed for defensive reinforcements in the summer, the sole addition of Micky van de Ven as a senior defender highlights the commitment to youthful talent.

Additionally, Argentine defender Cristian Romero assumed leadership responsibilities, supporting club captain Son Heung-min, after being named part of the team's leadership group.

Despite the departure of Harry Kane, the team's reliance on the star striker ended abruptly.

Ange Postecoglou's managerial acumen shifted the goal-scoring dynamics, witnessing a remarkable 35 goals across his initial 17 games in charge.

The attacking mantle was notably carried by Son Heung-min and the injured James Maddison, while contributions from Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and Cristian Romero further bolstered the team's goal tally.

Richarlison's recent form, netting consecutively for the first time in his Tottenham Hotspur career, adds to Postecoglou's buoyancy.

However, concerns linger regarding the injury list and player suspensions, with Yves Bissoma set to miss the upcoming four games.

While Tottenham Hotspur's resurgence under Postecoglou's dynamic approach shows promise, defensive vulnerabilities persist.

Notably, the team faced setbacks in protecting leads this season, highlighting an area demanding improvement.

Nonetheless, this revival marks the start of an auspicious journey for Tottenham Hotspur, aspiring for silverware under Postecoglou's stewardship.

Will Postecoglou manage the city?

If the Australian ends up managing Manchester City in the near future there's no doubt that he would oversee a period of dominance due to the way and manner in which the club has been running and its DNA which Ange Postecoglou will look to continue with his attacking brand of football
