Gelsen Dala's two first-half goals and Mabululu's second-half shot were enough to send Angola to the quarterfinals of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Despite Angola goalkeeper Neblu being sent off in the first half, the team fought till the end of the game with good pacy football and a duel-winning display.

Dala's first goal came from a tap-in, and his second goal was a beautiful header to put the team ahead.


Angola's second goal came after Namibian defender Haukongo got sent off after he brought down Mabululu while Angola were goal-bound.

The third goal came from Mabululu, who scored a nicely placed shot.

How Angola Ended Namibia's African Cup of Nations Campaign

The game started with intensity, with a duel fight in the midfield and different crosses coming in from the two African teams.

In the 12th minute of the match, Namibia hit the ball on the counterattack and could have scored a goal, but the rushing Angola goalkeeper, Neblu, saved his team from conceding a goal.

Angola got themselves into trouble in the 17th minute of the match after Neblu came out of the box to save his team from conceding a goal.

Neblu was sent off by the referee, and the Angolan side played the remainder of the match with 10 men.

The Namibian side got a free kick, and Angola's second goalkeeper, Dominique, was called into action with a beautiful save.

In the 26th minute of the match, the Angolan striker, Mabululu, who had scored two goals in the 2023 AFCON, had a clear-cut chance against Namibia, but he was not clinical enough.

Angola went ahead in the 39th minute of the first half, with Gelson Dala scoring a tap-in to give the country hope of qualifying for the quarterfinals of the tournament.

After Angola's first goal, Namibia started playing under pressure, and defender Haukongo got sent off for pulling down an Angola attacker.

Gelson Dala came through again for his national team in the 42nd minute, scoring a good header from the free kick.

In the second half of the game, Namibian striker Shalulile had a chance to score a goal, but his attempt went over the goalpost.

Angola came close to scoring their third goal of the match in the 64th minute, but Mabululu's attempt went wide.

A few minutes later, Mabululu, who missed the previous chance, scored Angola's third goal of the game with a nice chip into the bottom corner of the Namibia goalpost.

Angola kept on pushing for more goals; they had their header saved by Namibia goalkeeper Kazapua.

What Next for Angola and Namibia?

The Angolan national team will wait for the outcome of the match between Nigeria and Cameroon which will kick off at 9:00 p.m.

Anyone who wins between Nigeria and Cameroon will face the Angolan side.

Namibia, on the other hand, will face Liberia for the World Cup qualifiers on June 3, 2024.
