Ghana parliament passed an anti-gay bill with a 3-year jail sentence for anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+.
According to the BBC, a group of Muslim, Christian, and Ghanaian traditional rulers supports this bill. Also, anyone caught forming a group to protect LGBTQ+ rights will be sentenced to five years in prison.
The promotion of rights of lesbians, gays, or other related gender identities is prohibited. This bill will only be signed into law if Ghanaian president, Nana Akufo-Addo approves it. Meanwhile, President Nana once said he will only sign the bill into law if the people wants him to.
