Ghanaian rapper, D-black reveals why Nigerian artists are more successful than other African artists
Popular Ghanaian musician, D-Black has revealed why he believes Nigerian artists are doing better than Ghanaian artists. He was speaking in an interview when he disclosed that Nigerian singers are more successful than Ghanaian singers. According to him, the Nigerian singers have a business mindset while the others don't.
D-Black is a well-known Ghanaian rapper, singer and songwriter. His full name is Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, but he is famously known as D-Black. He was speaking on a recent episode of The Afrobeats Podcast. He says Nigerian artists are more successful than their Ghanaian musicians because the Ghanaian musicians don't do it as a business hut because of their love for the art.
In his words “Why Nigerian records are flying higher than the Ghanaian ones is because Ghanaian artists don’t really care about the money. They don’t care about the business. It’s just the love of art which overpowered everything. There’s really no business behind it for them… BET nomination, all the accolades, I made no money. But as soon as I switched to commercial mood; Afrobeats, I bought my Ferrari and Range rover. I was everywhere…Artists and creatives need to understand that music alone is not enough. You need to get up and grind. You need to take advantage of social media to promote your craft.”
