The goalkeeping duo, whose contract were set to expire at the end of the season, are now set for a fresh two year challenge with the Bavarians.

More striking about the contract renewal is that it happened at the same with same duration.

Manuel Neuer is Bayern Munich's main goalkeeper while Sven Ulreich is more of a backup but they seemingly share a bond that has seen them stick together through the thick and thin.

Unlike the usual intense competition between first choice goalkeepers and their backups, Neuer and Ulreich relationship is a departure. The two shotstoppers complement each other and have worked together to keep the Bavarians in top shape.

When Manuel suffered a devastating leg injury that kept him out of action for months, Sven Ulreich stepped in for the for the former Schalke04 goalie and manned the sticks for the Bavarians.

After Neuer returned from the sidelines, Ulreich took up his backup role while the German legend regained his starting berth.

Manuel Neuer is one of the longest-serving Bayern Munich players, having joined the club in 2011 from Schalke04. The 37-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in football history. He is known for his speed and agility in goal.

Neuer has won the Bundesliga, Champions League, German Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern Munich, and has made 494 appearances for Bayern Munich.

The new contract extension will see the 37-year-old stay with the Bavarians for 14 years.

Sven Ulreich joined Bayern Munich in 2015, four years after Manuel Neuer. He has won the Champions League, Bundesliga, German Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup in his 98 appearances for the club.
