Government in Benue suspends the enforcement of the anti-open grazing law

The government and governor in Benue State have suspended the enforcement of the anti-open grazing law.

The Governor of benue state, governor Samuel Ortom was the one who suspended the operations of livestock guards.

He has also suspended the state para-military agency that is responsible for enforcing the state anti-open grazingand this is for two weeks.

He mentioned that this is so as to allow all herdsmen with livestock in Benue state to leave.

This was revealed on Tuesday by the governor not too long after a security council meeting which was after the recent wanton killing in Benue state.

Much over a 100 people have been killed in the last few days. This was as a result of strange unprovoked attacks by herdsmen.

The governor explained that this suspension was actually to show good fate to all those hoarders who claimed they came into Benue without knowing about this Law.

This law is an Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of 2017.

The governor also mention that the president, General Muhammadu Buhari has also ordered that the suspects of these killijgs be fished out.
