The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has rejected the N5million Compensation to be given to the Uber Driver that was tortured during the EndSARS Memorial, and he has taken the case to the Appeal Court.

The state filled a notice of appeal against this judgement barely a week after the gubernatorial elections where Sanwo-Olu was reelected as governor of lagos.

The lagos government rejected thus judgement which was given by the Federal High Court.

The federal High Court had ordered the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to pay a sum of N5million to an Uber driver who was tortured during the EndSARS memorial in 2021.

Recall that the news of this attack spread wide when it happened and many right activities criticized this actions.

The Federal high Court had given this directive when they had a court sitting on the 13th of March, 2023.

The uber driver, Adedotun Clement, had been tortured terribly when there was a memorial on the 20th of October, 2021 at the Lekki Toll-Gate.

Clement had been carrying a passenger to Lagos Mainland when he encountered a gridlock at the Lekki Toll-Gate. This was due to the ongoing EndSARS Memorial.

He was then grabbed and terribly tortured by some officers of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency and policemen.

A human right lawyer, Inibehe Effiong then filled a lawsuit against the government of Lagos State on behalf of the victim hence leading up the the latest incident.

After the appeal to the court was made by the Lagos state government, Effiong said his client was disappointed by the action taken by the government and he is ready to face them in court.
