Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been working towards getting his UEFA A license in collaboration with the Professional Football Association.
In addition, Xhaka is also spending time managing a 5th-tier football club, Union Nettelal, in the German League. This will allow him to get more experience with coaching before retiring.
In Xhaka's latest interview with Markus Fjortoft, he talked about his experience with coaching, saying, "Since I did my coaching, I’m playing differently; this is the truth. I see the football game differently; I look a lot farther."
"A lot of people speak about talent and football, but they forget the mentality side. I said it once, and I will repeat it again. Not everything looks good from the outside; it is better on the inside."
"It’s so important to have a strong mentality. Of course, talent is important, but I believe if you are not ready here (points to mind), everything else doesn’t count. Discipline, respect, and hard work. I always use these three words.”
The UEFA A license is the highest practical coaching award available. It requires candidates to complete the application with a team.
