A lot of people thought the title race was over when Arsenal had an eight-point lead over Manchester City on April 1, 2023, after the Gunners defeated Leeds United 4-1.

Arsenal's doom started on Matchday 30, when they played a 2-2 draw against Liverpool on April 9, 2023. The North London team scored two goals in the first 28 minutes, and many thought they were cruising to a victory against Liverpool.
