The first step toward driving is how long it takes you to learn how to drive. For some it just weeks, some months and it all depends on how much access you have behind the wheel while driving.

Many drivers in Nigeria must and are expected to learn how to drive first before they can go and apply for their Nigerian Driver's Licence. After they have learned how to drive, they can pay a state fee, apply for a driver's license, and then start driving.

Overall, it should not take you more than a month to learn how to drive if you have access to a car or if you are able to practice daily. But the first part is bing safe on the road. Nigerian roads are not too safe and it's important that we have safe drivers and a safe driver is someone who has completed his or her driving course and can drive safely.

• Learning to drive skillfully in various conditions - day, night, rain, snow, fog, even ice, and knowing when to not drive at all
• Learning how to cope with traffic and other drivers - where and how to focus your attention as you drive, how to anticipate and react to what other drivers do, how to control your emotions while driving, and tactics and strategy for staying safe and avoiding accidents. Also how to cope with other things you will encounter - pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, trucks and buses, animals, road hazards, and also passengers!
• Learning how to handle emergency and other unusual situations - emergency stops and swerves, skids, flat tires, accidents, emergency vehicles, even being stopped by police. This includes when and how to break a traffic rule when necessary for safety.

He learnt how to drive at home actually with his mom's car at 18, I would say his a fast learner. Now he even drives better than his mom.
