Real Madrid continued on their relentless push to clinch the 2022/23 LaLiga title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Sevilla at Santiago Bernabeu.

After a barren first half, Luka Modric fired the Los Blancos into the lead late in the gams. And the goal was enough to secure victory for the LaLiga title hopefuls,

Away from the match's outcome, an interesting incident involving former Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos and his former teammate Toni Kross unfolded midway into the game.

Ramos returned to Santiago for the first time in three years after he left the club for PSG in 2021 before returning to LaLiga with Sevilla.

At the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid fans reduced the legendary footballer to tears as they welcomed him with a heroic reception before the match began.

It was such an emotional moment for the Spaniard, coming up against a club that nurtured him into one of the best defenders in LaLiga and Europe.

While he returned as a foe against his former club, Ramos clung on to old-time spirits of comradeship when tempers seemed to flare between Toni Kroos and Sevilla player Loic Bade.

Kroos bagged a yellow card after he collided with Loic Bade. Loic Bade was booked as well as he went on to confront Kroos after the clash of bodies. But Kroos claimed innocence and was furious with the decision.

The 34-year-old attempted to confront the referee for the decision but was held back by Ramos, who calmed him down.

It is understood Kroos, who was already on a yellow card, would have been possibly booked again for dissent. And that would have warranted his sending off in the game, thanks to Sergio Ramos' intervention.

Real Madrid ran out 1-0 winners at the blast of the final whistle as Sevilla failed to mount a response after Luka Modric's 80th-minute strike.

The win has seen the team extend the lead on top of the table to 8 points above Barcelona in second place. They will take on Valencia on March 2 before hosting RB Leipzig in the Champions League round 16 return leg.
