A student of the University of Lagos broke into tears as she expressed her fear of dropping out of school after her school increased their tuition fees.

Recall that on July 20 2023, the University of Lagos increased their tuition fees from N19,000 and N20,000 to N190,000 and N200,000 according to each discipline.

As a result, the students of UNILAG took to the streets on Wednesday, 6th September to protest against the new tuition fees approved for the new school year.

The students went on a peaceful protest demanding that their right to education be protected and that the school management should consider the present economic hardship before making decisions.

During the protest, an unidentified female student expressed her grievances towards the new development.

She lamented about how the school increased her fees from N25,000 to a huge sum of N200,000 stating that she cannot afford to pay. She said most students like her fend for themselves and have no one to cater their needs.

With a heavy heart and tears rolling down her cheeks, she said she doesn't want to drop out of school.
