The former Lagos State deputy governor Femi Pedro has urged the Federal Government to pardon the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Beta Edu.
37-year-old Beta Edu was suspended by President Tinubu for approval of the transfer of public funds into a private account. She is currently in custody of the EFCC where she is being probed.
Describing Beta Edu, Femi Pedro said he first met her in 2022 when she was introduced as a women leader candidate. He said Edu was confident, and articulate and also appeared determined and ambitious. Pedro stated that Beta Edu worked hard during the APC campaign for the 2023 elections, mobilized women, and attended most of the events.
He said he hoped Beta Edu would learn her lesson on how to conduct herself better as a public officer. Pedro said he feels sorry for her because she is a promising bright star who could have served the nation in higher capacities. He also urged young people not to be discouraged in serving the nation. Instead, they should look for mentors with credibility who will guide them in navigating public office.
