Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham reveals that deeply shattered after she found out that her newly released movie Malaika had been pirated.
Toyin Abraham's movie Malaika barely made 300M at the box office compared to her colleague Funke Akindele's movie A Tribe Called Judah which made over a whopping 1.2 billion. In a press conference, Toyin Abraham said working hard to produce a movie that will later get pirated is quite disturbing. She said it isn't a fight for herself alone but for the entire creative industry.
Toyin Abraham thanked her colleagues, her husband Kola Ajeyemi, and the security agencies, for their immense support in fighting against piracy. Toyin Abraham revealed that she has been having panic attacks since she discovered her movie had been circulating on illegal platforms.
She said, "Someone just sent the link to my manager. We were in the car and I started crying. If you look at me, you'll know that I'm not okay. I had to come from the hospital. I've been having panic attacks. It's not easy.
Shooting a movie for over N500M and you just see it out there. I saw my movie and another one. The next thing, they're telling people they are going to upload it."
After she found out, she called some of her colleagues and tech guys for support and they had to break the link circulating on Telegram. Though some people still have the link, Toyin Abraham is sure her efforts go a long way.
