A 27-year old Chibok girl known as Nkeki Mary, who was recently rescued from her husband, a member of the terrorist group Boko Haram, has pleaded with the Nigerian Army that she wants to go back to her husband.
Mary was rescued a week ago by Nigerian troops in a border town in Dikwa, Cameroon where she was sent to the Borno State Commissioner of Women Affairs on Monday, 21st August.
One of the commanders known as Gen. Chibuisi reported saying, "Mary was rescued by our troops, while one Adamu, her husband surrendered to the Army last week in the border areas of Cameroon.”
According to reports, Mary had two children with her husband Mallam Adamu, but they couldn't survive as a result of severe malnutrition.
While speaking on her rescue, Mary disclosed that the only thing she wishes for is to reconcile with her husband because she still loves him so dearly.
She said, "As for marriage, my husband is still alive, and I am still in love with him. I don’t know whether he is still in Dikwa or they brought him to Maiduguri, but I will love to be reunited with him if it will be possible,"
Nine years after the abduction of the 200 Chibok school girls in 2014, only 16 girls out of 200 have been rescued.
