
The Abia State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, approved the renaming of Abia State Polytechnic to Abia State University of Science and Technology, Aba.
The board also approved the remainder of the Abia Arochukwu State College of Education at Abia State University of Education, Arochukwu and the State College of Health Sciences and Management Studies of Abia at Abia State University of Health Sciences and Management Studies, Aba
The council also approved the shipping of the works to the Ntigha dry port and the partnership with the existing port concessionaire.
These were part of the resolutions adopted at the State Executive Council meeting on October 26, 2021 at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Umuahia, according to a report of the meeting received from ABN.TV.
The meeting was also attended by the state's 27 newly appointed commissioners, who were sworn in by the governor on Tuesday in the Micheal Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
Among other decisions, the council also approved 150 million naira (one hundred and fifty million naira) of assistance to traders relocated to Aba from Ariaria International Market and Ahia Ohuru Market, both through Abia SME Bank.
Resolutions are submitted to the National Assembly for approval.
