It seems we will not be seeing American model Bella Hadid on runways for a long time due to her health condition Lyme disease which she has been battling for years now.
The model who has been receiving treatments for a long time said via Instagram that living in that state is worsening with time and it's taking a toll on her mental health in ways she cannot explain.
"Living in this state, worsening with time and work while trying to make myself, my family and the people who support me, proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can’t really explain.
To be that sad and sick with the most blessings, privilege, opportunity and love around me was quite possibly the most confusing thing ever.", She said.
Hadid was first diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2013 and has been battling the illness for ten years straight. However, she said she's not giving up on herself yet as she is optimistic that she will be over it soon.
She wrote,"The little me that suffered would be so proud of grown me for not giving up on myself", assuring her fans that she's okay.
"I wouldn’t change anything for the world. If I had to go through all of this again, to get here, to this exact moment I’m in right now, with all of you, finally healthy, I would do it all again. It made me who I am today.
With an optimistic heart, she added, I’ll be back when I’m ready. I miss you all so much. I love you all so much."
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the tick parasite. It can be spread to humans by tick bites. At the early stage, a rash appears on the skin in an oval or round shape.
The rash is not usually itchy but may appear like a bruise and gradually spread through the skin. Those who get infected get symptoms like pain in the joints, fever, fatigue, headache, swollen joints.
If left untreated, it can produce a wide range of symptoms like arthritis, facial palsy, irregular heartbeat, inflammation of the brain and the spinal cord.
