Popular Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has claimed that he is senior to Pete Edochie who is also a senior person in the Nigerian movie industry. Kanayo O Kanayo has stated that he is Pete Edochie's senior I nollywood and this is coming after Pete Edochie's interview some weeks back.
Recall Pete Edochie granted an interview some weeks back saying that he is senior in Nollywood. Pete Edochie stated that he had begun acting before Nollywood came into place many years ago. Pete Edochie's first role was in the Chinua Achebe’s novel titled Things Fall Apart.
Kanayo O Kanayo has also declared that he is senior to Pete. He shared this during a recent interview and here he had been speaking about the history of Nollywood. He claims he was in Nollywood 4 years before Pete Edochie joined the industry. According According him, the seniority in the industry isn't by age.
He stated “You can’t take it away that Kenneth Nnebue made the first professionally made home video in 1992. You can’t take it away from those who took part in ‘Living in Bondage’, just like you can’t take it away from the fact that ‘Things Fall Apart’ which Pete Edochie took part in was not a home video. It was a cinema. So if you write a story now and say Pete Edochie is older than me in Nollywood, I will contest it because he came four years after. So in Nollywood I’m his senior. It is not a matter of biological age"
