On Saturday, a 24-year-old footballer died after falling off a moving train in India's West Bengal's North 24 Parganas area.
The man, identified as Kouadio Mathieu, was traveling from Barrackpore to Sealdah when he abruptly jumped off a moving train near Gandhi Prem Niwas in Titagarh.
Kouadio Mathieu's passport revealed that he is an Ivory Coast player.
He was critically injured in the collision and managed to drag himself to an ashram near the railway tracks, according to India media company.
Early investigations revealed that the victim lived in rented housing in Barasat, North 24 Parganas.
The footballer was on his way to a game when the tragedy occurred. Locals rushed him to a neighboring hospital, where he died two hours later from his injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into the player's death. The passport recovered in his pocket indicates that he was an Ivory Coast football player. According to sources, the footballer formerly played for many clubs in West Bengal.
