INEC says they are prepared for the supplementary poll in Kebbi on Saturday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has revealed that they are ready for the supplementary elections in Kebbi state on Saturday

They mentioned that they are done with the arrangement needed to conduct a successful governorship and National and State Assembly elections in Kebbi State.

It was the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that mentioned that INEC has fixed the 15th of April, 2023 (today) for supplementary governorship elections in Kebbi stste and also Adamawa State

This election would be holding in 142 polling units in 20 local government areas in Kebbi State.

It was Mr Festus Okoye, the national commissioner for INEC who revealed this on Friday, yesterday.

He stated that they are ready to conduct a successful election.

He mentioned that INEC had already distributed the election materials which include the ballot papers, Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and result sheets.

He mentioned that they had contacted security agencies political parties and others to ensure the electiosn go as planned without hitches.

He mentioned that the chairman of INEC has also deployed three national commissioners to Kebbi State and this is because of the number of elections that would be holding in the State.

He revealed they would have a conclusion to the election by Sunday so the residents of the state can finally know who their governor is.

A suspected ballot box snatcher has been shot dead by soldiers at Bajida polling unit 001
The man was reportedly shot dead while he was attempting to snatch a ballot box from officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the ongoing supplementary elections in the state.



According to eyewitnesses in the area, the deceased was a member of the proscribed Yansakai, a local volunteer vigilante group.



He was said to have stormed the polling unit, claiming to be a security agent.



He allegedly attempted to snatch a gun from a soldier at the polling unit when he was shot.



“He and his group rushed to the polling unit trying to snatch the ballot box as INEC officials were moving the ballot box to the collation centre.
