Drama was witnessed in the ongoing Asian Cup in the clash involving Iraq and Jordan which ended 2-3 in favour of Jordan.

The encounter witnessed a rollercoaster of events in the dying embers, with Iraqi Aymen Hussein being dismissed in the 77th minute for excessive celebration.

Hussein was handed a second yellow card and subsequently a red for a bizarre “grass-eating” celebration after netting the second goal for Iraq.

Iraq were cruising and in control of the game up until that point, however, the intense affair soon turned on its head, with Jordan scoring stoppage time to snatch the game away from their opposition.

Yazan Al-Naimat had scored the opening goal for Houssaine Ammouta's side in the 1st minute of added time in the first 45.

However, a quick turnaround saw Iraq netting in the 68th and 76th minute, through Saad Natiq Naji and Aymen Hussein.

Many expected Jesus Casas's side to exit the game with the win, but Jordan had other ideas, as they made full use of their one-man advantage.

Yazan Abu Al-Arab restored parity for them, with Nizar Al Rashdan completing the job 7 minutes into stoppage time.

Social media went agog over the decision of the referee to dismiss Hussein, with many on different sides of the divide.

There were individuals leaning towards the side of Iraq, while others felt the celebration was excessive and disrespectful.

It is difficult to encrypt what the celebration meant, however, the celebration appears to be one where Aymen Hussein seemingly implied that he was feasting on Jordan.

Iraq have won the Asian Cup just once in the country's history, while Jordan are aiming to win the crown for the first time.

Following the victory over Jesus Casas' side, Jordan progressed into the last 8, where they will face Tajikistan.

The 2023 Asian Cup has witnessed several shocking outcomes, but there are several favorites in the running for the crown.

Qatar defeated Palestine on Monday, January 29, 2024, by 2-1, and the defending champions will be hoping to defend their title on home soil.

Iran, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea are all past winners of the Asian Cup and they are still in the tournament vying to win the title.

Jordan finished as one of the best 3rd-placed teams in the competition, but they are now looking like they can achieve glory.

Quarter-final matches in the Asian Cup have been slated to go down from February 2, 2024, to February 3, 2024.

Iraqi's Aymen Hussein is the current top-scorer of the 2023 Asian Cup with 6 goals, while Ali Jassim of Iraq also leads the way in terms of assists with 3 assists.

It will be intriguing to see which country wins the 2023 Asian Cup in February.
