Direct Entry Jamb candidates, for a long time, have been known to bypass the regular JAMB exam. Usually, the only thing they have to do is present qualifications that can serve as an alternative and also exempt them from the JAMB exam. These alternative qualifications include A-level exams, Ordinary national diploma, Higher National Diploma, or even NCE.

However, with the new development, Direct Entry Candidates will now have to take cognitive and verbal reasoning tests with effect from 2024. The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this information during an online meeting with Education Commissioners from all 36 States of the country.
