Despite Barcelona's poor start to the 2023/24 season, club president Joan Laporta has assured manager Xavi Hernandez of full support for the future.

The La Liga champions haven't had the best of starts to the league campaign, as they currently sit 3rd on the table with 31 points from 14 matches.

The Blaugrana side have won just 2 out of their last 5 matches, drawing 1 and losing the other 2.

In their last La Liga fixture, they struggled to secure a point in a keenly contested encounter against Rayo Vallecano at the Estádio de Vallecas.

Their financial issues remain unsolved, and the club's issues with the Spanish football authorities and UEFA also continue to linger.

However, speaking in a recent interview, Laporta maintained that Barcelona are totally backing the Spanish tactician.

Joan Laporta said: “We are with Xavi. 100% guaranteed, our support will be total. He’s our manager and we are proud to have him as a coach”.

The Spanish side also lost in their last outing in Europe, as they were stunned by Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, losing 1-0.

Barcelona sit at the summit of Group H, on equal number of points (9) with second-placed Porto.

Xavi Hernandez's side take on Porto in their next UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, and that game promises to be a cracker.

That fixture could potentially decide who tops the group or better still, confirm which team qualifies to the Round of 16.

Manager Hernandez also had his say on how he is feeling given the recent turn of results, he said:

“I feel protected by the club. I talk to the president often and to Deco. They know how we work and I feel that I have all their confidence”.

“I firmly believe that we will play well again and get the results. If I didn't believe in it I wouldn't be here”.

Barcelona welcome Atletico Madrid to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for their next league affair, and that game also promises to be a mouthwatering clash.

The Spanish club signed a plethora of fantastic names during the 2023 summer transfer window, including; Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix.

Barcelona are currently battling issues with regard to scoring goals, as striker Robert Lewandowski has been in and out of form this campaign.

Lewandowski has scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions this campaign.

The 35-year-old finished as the La Liga top-scorer last season, with 23 goals and 7 assists in 34 league matches.

The Catalonia-based club currently have some important players out injured, including; Spanish defender Sergio Roberto, German shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and burgeoning youngster Gavi.
