Joao Felix scored for Barcelona as the Catalans saw off his parent club Atletico Madrid with a narrow 1-0 win in La Liga.

Barcelona started the game on the front foot dominating proceedings and were looking set to to take the lead.

Despite coming under intense presurre, Atletico Madrid maintained a good attacking threats while falling back to defend. In the 28th minute, Joao Felix put Barcelona ahead with a nice goal against the visitors.

Atletico Madrid made concerted effort to draw the game level before the first half break but were contained by the more dominant Barcelona side.

The first half ended with Barcelona taking the narrow 1-0 lead into the break.

Back to the last 45, Barcelona continued in their dominant performance but had to weather a more resilient display by the away side.

It was a dragging game in the second half with few chances created. Despite taking the lead, Barcelona were still in absolute control of proceedings in the game but they could not add to the tally.

Atletico Madrid also created some chances for a leveler but could not convert them. Both sides drew blank in the second half wasting some clearcut chances.

The match ended with Barcelona winning with the loan first half goal by Joao Felix.

Joao Felix, who joined Barcelona on loan from Atlético Madrid on transfer deadline day, made headlines after he took time and celebrated his goal against his parent club.

After netting the lone goal which turned out to be the match-winner, Joao Felix downed hints of sportsmanship and respect for his parent club, and celebrated provocatively.
