Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson looks to have regained his happiness, after his escapade in the Saudi Pro League.
Reports have in recent weeks claimed that Henderson was keen on a move away from Al Ettifaq, with him failing to acclimatize to the country.
Several factors affected him from providing his best in Saudi Arabia, including; climate conditions, lack of motivation due to low attendance for matches, being a loner, and cultural shock amongst many others.
Following a “mutual agreement” with Al Ettifaq, it was decided that the Englishman's contract be terminated.
Al Ettifaq's President Samer Al Misehal appreciated Henderson for his contributions to the club and wished him all the best for the future.
Samer said: “Firstly, the club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Jordan Henderson also sent out his appreciation to the club, and their supporters and equally sent out his good wishes to the team for the remainder of the campaign.
Henderson said: “I’d like to thank the club, the fans, and all involved for the opportunity and wish them the best for the remainder of the season. A lot of hard work is going on which I know will pay off in the future.”
Jordan Henderson has subsequently and swiftly joined Dutch giants Ajax on a 2-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him remain at the club until June 30, 2026.
He took to Instagram after his move to Ajax was confirmed to write: “Amsterdam! So happy to be here. Can't wait to see you all soon”
Henderson made 19 appearances for Al Ettifaq during his stay at the club, scoring no goals and providing 5 assists in all competitions.
The Englishman will be hoping for a new lease of life in the Netherlands, with Ajax not being in their best form at this point.
