Joy Jeff, Nigerian 'most wanted prostitution ring leader extradited to Italy
A Nigerian woman who goes by the name Joy Jeff has been extradited from Abuja to Italy.
She is to serve a 13 years jail term sentence for many offences which include running a prostitution ring.
Joy has been on the wanted list for years now and the 48 year old woman has finally been stopped.
It has been confirmed that Joy was among the few women on Italy’s most-wanted list, and is also included in the list of 100 most dangerous fugitives.
It was in 2010 she was first declared wanted. The allegations against her include criminal conspiracy, human trafficking, exploitation of prostitution, enslavement and others.
The Italian National Police who have conducted a detailed investigation into all of joys crimes mentioned that her crimes date back to 2007. It was then she headed a business of cross-border prostitution among these countries; Netherlands, Italy and Spain. Further investigation shows she is very prominent in trafficking women to these 3 countries (Italy, Spain and Netherlands) and voilence would be used on these women to force them into prostitution.
According to the Italian police, it just just yesterday, Wednesday when she was handed over to Italy. The Italian police describe her as a prominent figure in the Nigerian mafia.
The reason for this extradition dates back to a treaty signed signed Nigeria and Italy in 2020.
Joy was on the 4th of June in 2022 and this was in Nigeria. She had been arrested due to an international warrant that the Italian government issued.
They flew her from Abuja to Rome and handed over to the police who took her away.
Although, it seems that although street prostitution is lawfulbin Italy, the law frowns upon organised prostitution in the manner Joy had operated it in the country.
