Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hoping that Egypt would crash out of 2023 AFCON in the group stages.

In a shocking but humorous remark, the Premier League and Champions League winner did not mince words as he said he hopes the record winners of the tournament miss from the knockouts of the tournament.

In a quote shared by OneFootball, Klopp said, "hopefully they [Egypt] are out in the group stage."

While Jurgen Klopp's wishes for Egypt is surprising and humorous as well, Nsmnews understands the German tactician is aiming the remark on Mo Salah.

Mo Salah is a key player for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool. He is away from Liverpool for AFCON. The Reds will miss the Egyptian winger, who has recently established himself as a Liverpool and Premier League legend following his prolific goalscoring run.

Jurgen Klopp will scheme through a few domestic matches without the attacking sensation. Salah signed out from Liverpool for AFCON on a high, bagging a brace as the Reds saw off Newcastle United in the Premier League to extend their lead on top of the table

After the Newcastle match, Jurgen Klopp hailed Salah's prolific goalscoring run, describing him as a top class striker. Klopp would have probably stopped Salah from joining Egypt for 2023 AFCON if he had his way, hence he is wishing Egypt to crash out of the competition to have his top striker back.

Jurgen Klopp's satirical wish for Liverpool is unlikely to come to pass. Egypt are among tournament's favorite. They are a record winners of the competition. They reached the final of the last edition.

They will kick off their campaign against Mozambique on January 14 before taking on Ghana, and Cape Verde in final group match. Salah is expected to play a key role in all the matches.
