Kai Havertz has set a new record in the Premier League following Arsenal's victory over Brentford on Saturday, March 9.

The former Chelsea was on target for the Gunners as he helped his side secure a slim win over Thomas Frank's men to climb the top of the Premier League table.

Kai Havertz's fine header that hit the back of the net in the 86th minute of play was enough for Mikel Arteta's side to bag all three points at Emirates Stadium.

However, the Germany International has now scored in four consecutive games, making it the first time since his move to the Premier League.

The former Bayer Leverkusen forward started his scoring run against Burnley and extended it at the Emirates against Newcastle United, also saw the back of the net away from home against Sheffield United before crowing it all in their clash with Brentford.

He has now equaled his best-ever goal-scoring season at Chelsea after only seven months with the Gunners.

Speaking after the game, he said; "I'm glad to help the team. I love to play on this team, in number 8, number 10, wherever you want me to go".

The 24-year-old has managed to regain his form after an underwhelming first half of the season.

So far this season, he has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 27 Premier League matches.

The German forward joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 after an eye-catching performance in Leverkusen, he helped the Blues secure their second UEFA Champions League title, scoring the only goal against Manchester City in the final.

He joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023 and has been an integral part of the team, as they seek the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal vs Brentford in brief

Kai Havertz's late header secured Arsenal a crucial 2-1 win over Brentford and spared Aaron Ramsdale's scandal as the Gunners moved top of the Premier League.

Ramsdale's disastrous mistake that saw Yoane Wissa equalize late in the first half looked as if it might cost Arsenal ahead of Sunday's enormous title showdown between Liverpool and Man City at Anfield.

However, Havertz delivered with a header late on, just as he did in the reverse matches in November, to take Arsenal a point clear of Liverpool and two of City with their eighth consecutive league win.

Declan Rice had headed Arsenal in front after 19 minutes following a bright start from the hosts but saw his goal canceled out by Wissa as he capitalized on Ramsdale's dawdling in possession.

Brentford fought hard to stay in the game but eventually caved and are just five points above the relegation zone as their winless run stretches to five games.

What is next?

The West London team will be seen next in action on Tuesday, March 12 as they welcome FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg tie.
