Kano Government set to rebuild Golden Jubilee Tower
Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has disclosed plans to reconstruct the Kano Golden Jubilee Tower, which his administration demolished.
As part of its continuous destruction program of buildings associated with the rule of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the Yusuf government demolished the tower which was built to commemorate Kano State's 50th anniversary.
However, in response to protests that followed the demolition of the stunning tower, the authorities eventually asserted that the building in front of the Kano authorities House was destroyed because it posed a security danger.
Additionally, a government official said that the presence of the cross symbol on the tower was the reason it was destroyed.
The government then claimed that they have already finalized plans to move and restore the original design of the demolished Golden Jubilee Tower at Naibawa Roundabout and this seems to be a response to the uproar that came as a result of the demolition of the landmark.
Comrade Hisham Habib who is the governor ’s spokesperson released a statement saying that the Kano state government will restore the design of the demolished roundabout at a safer location in Naibawa Flyover.
They have made their plans to restore this design in a safer place at the Naibawa Flyover which is at the outskirts of the town.
Governor Yusuf has also met with the designer of the Golden Jubilee structure. He met them at the new site where this design will be erected and he revealed that the government is commitment to infrastructural development.
He also revealed that this place is better and suitable for this work. He says this area will pose no challenges as they have already conducted their survey.
The designer who is Kaltume Gana has appreciated the governor for working towards preserving this work.
