Kate Henshaw reveals how her family was concerned about her safety for speaking her mind during the 2023 elections
Popular Nigerian actress, Kate Henshaw has revealed how her family was concerned for her safety earlier last year during the 2023 presidential elections in Nigeria. They were concerned for her life because she openly and publicly spoke her mind by criticizing the government. She then shared that during this period, she had to ensure the safety of her daughter and handed her over to her sister incase anything happens to her (Kate). She shared all this in a recent interview with a famous Nigerian media personality, Chude Jideonwo on a recent episode of his podcast ‘WithChude’.
Kate Henshaw is a famous Nigerian actress who has starred in many Nollywood movies over the years. She is 52 years old. She has acted in movies like Chief Daddy, house of secrets, 4th Republic, the set up 2 and, many others. she is married to a man named Rod Nuttal and they have a daughter together. They got married in 2000. Her daughter’s name is Gabrielle Nuttal, and she is 23 years old. She lives a private life as her mother keeps her away from social media except the time, she shared a photo of herself and Gabrielle.
Kate Henshaw revealed that her sister had advised her to be careful during the 2023 elections. Recall Kate was very vocal about the things happening in Nigeria during the elections and gave lots of commentaries. She called out the electoral body and politicians for their flaws in the general election which was held in February 2023. Her sister and family were concerned. At the time, Kate then gave her sister the combination of her safe, access to her bank and permission to take care of her daughter, Gabrielle if anything should happen to her in that period. She stated that her sister had signed some documents to that effect just as precaution if something happens to her during the election period.
She stated “I remember during the election, my sister kept telling me to be careful. I told her God is the only one who can take my life if he says let it go. It means I have done my bit and I will go. I told her the combination of my safe, her name was on my bank as next of kin, and she signed some documents in case anything happened. I also told her to take care of my daughter… What is this life if you’re gonna hold it… it is better to speak your mind and live your truth than you been silent. I won’t say silence is cowardly but if God has given you grace and courage, then I dedicate my life to speaking the truth. I’ve been through domestic violence. My involvement in it is personal, I dedicate my life to always speaking the truth and that’s why I pray that money will never be my Lord and master. You can’t buy me with money. I wont be able to open my mouth and speak and I want to speak”.
