Kebbi Governor promises to increase doctors' and medical staff allowances​

The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has promised to increase the allowances of Doctors and all Medical staff in the state, to motivate them to keep working at the State facility. The medical facilities in Kebbi have recorded an increase in the transfer of Doctors to federal government facilities due to an increment in allowances. This information was released to the public by Ahmed Idris, Kebbi State Governor's Chief Press Secretary.

The statement revealed that Governor Nasir disclosed the new development at a dinner party which was organized to honor 13 medical doctors who graduated from Usman Danfodio University. He He further said that the Health sector will be prioritized because their workers contribute greatly to the health of Nigerians.

Quoting verbatim, Governor Nasir said, "I will do my best to increase doctors’ and other medical staff allowances, so that the gap in allowances between the state and the federal government is filled, to enable them to stay at home and work for their people."

He stated that his administration has increased the scholarship allowance for medical students from N30,000 to N50,000. This is a new development to ensure that medical students at various institutions get extra financial support toward their academics. To further encourage the health workers in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir promised to construct hospitals across the state to support the people of the state, increasing accessibility to healthcare.
