Kenyan socialite killed brutally in an Airbnb in Nairobi
In a recent occurrence, a Kenyan woman was brutally murdered in the country. This woman has been identified as a well-known socialite whose name is Starlet Wahu Mwangi. She was killed in Nairobi, Kenya. Her body was discovered in an Airbnb in Nairobi. A suspect has been arrested on Friday in connection with the tragic murder of Starlet Mwangi. This lady is 26 years old. She is the younger sister of a controversial evangelical pastor in Nairobi. The Airbnb her body was found in is located in South B, Nairobi.
CCTV footage shows that she went into he Airbnb with the suspected murderer. The lodged into their room at night on the 3rd of January 2024. The footage showed the last time the woman was seen alive. The suspect was beside her wearing a denim shirt. They then took a lift to their room in the apartment. A postmortem examination of her body has been carried out and it showed that the woman was strangled to death. She also had a deep cut wound on her thigh and this wound was so deep, it had cut her vein. The autopsy also revealed that she lost a lot of blood and this had led to her death.
The Airbnb apartment has a security guard who also spoke about the incident. He revealed that he saw the suspect and Starlet Wahu enter the apartment. He stated that he saw her companion leave with bloodied clothes the following day. He stated that the man's leg was injured and he looked quite disturbed when he was leaving the room. E then called the owner of the house and they rushed to the apartment. The door was locked when they arrived and they found the spare key and used it to open the door. They then saw her lifeless body In the sitting room.
They noticed that a struggle had taken place In the room because of how the room was scattered. They called on the police who came and recovered some weapons. They retrieved a knife, two HIV test kits and one used condom. Judith Nyongesa who is the Police head in Makadara stated that the vein which had been cut was connected to her heart leading to a faster death.
In her words “The suspect cut the woman's vein connecting to the heart which is why she died faster. We could not save her,"
The suspect was later arrested at a hospital in Nairobi where he was seeking medical treatment. He claimed the deceased woman attacked him and a fight then ensued. He had sustained some injuries in his hands and legs. He was charged to court on Friday and a custodial order to remand him in jail for 21 days was approved. Further investigation is still ongoing into the case.
