Labour Party Chieftain beheaded in Abia State

A Labour Party Chieftain who has been identified as Zachary Nmaduka was recently killed in Abia State. This man who is 70 years old was beheaded. He had gone out for a drink that fateful day when the incident occured.

The victim is a native of Ezieke Akpukpa Uturu in Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. The incident occured in Tuesday evening around 8pm. Officers of the Abia State Police Command have commenced an investigation into the case.

Mr Zachary was the chairman of Uturu Development Union, Uturu. He was also the head of the Uturu community security in the area. He went out to drink at 8pm in a community known as Amelechi Akpukpa. He was attacked by some gunmen on his way.
The Abia State Labour Party Chairman who is Kecee Igara has also confirmed that the victim was a member of the Political party.

The attackers who killed him were about 10 in number and had been armed with guns and cutlasses alongside other weapons. They had shot him in the head and then eventually beheaded him. His head was taken away by his attackers.

The Abia state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka revealed that the police were alerted as soon as the incident occurred. They were only able to recover the corpse that night and have deposited the body at the morgue. The police are working towards apprehending these gnmen so as to serve justice.

A statement was released by the Assistant Superintendent of Police. It read “Mr Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa community. Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising police and army personnel was swiftly dispatched to the scene. Tragically, they recovered Mr Nmaduka’s lifeless body. Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu. Investigation is currently ongoing.”
