Lagos auto Crash claims 5 lives and leaves 12 injured
A tragic auto crash which occured recently on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed 5 lives. This accident lead to the death of 5 people and 12 others injured. The incident occured around the Foursquare camp, Ajebo which is located on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The accident happened early on Sinday Morning. This was the 17th of September 2023. There were 3 vehicles involved in this accident. A truck, a Toyota bus and a Pickup vehicle were involved. The accident happened when the DAF truck had a burst tyre and lost control. The truck then halted on the road and the other two vehicles ran into the stationed truck.
It was the Spokesperson of Ogun State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe who revealed this information via a statemnt which as released recently. She revaked that 21 people had been involved in the crash, 5 died, 12 were injured while the remaining 4 were unhurt.
The 12 victims who were injured from the crash have been rushed to an hospital named Victory Hospital in Ogere, for medical treatment. The bodies of the deceased have also been taken to the morgue in Ipara Remo.
According to the statement whih was released, “FRSC Ogunmakin unit Command carried out a rescue operation at the early hours of Sunday morning at about 0615 hrs on Lagos-Ibadan expressway few meters before Foursquare camp and the rescue operation was done with the help of the Nigeria Police. A total of 21 persons were involved in a multiple crash and all male adult. 12 people were injured and unfortunately, five persons were recorded dead from the road traffic crash and the remaining unhurt"
“Three vehicles were involved with registration numbers KMC- 810ZB a DAF truck, TMA- 244XA a Toyota bus and a Mitsubishi pickup with no registration number on it. The suspected causes of the crash were speed, tyre bust and loss of control on the part of the truck driver whose vehicle crashed and occupied the road and others were running into the crashed vehicle. The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.”
The commander of the FRSC, Ogun State Sector, Anthony Uga symoatuised with the families of the bereaved. He also advised motorists to beware of using tyres that are substandard. He also urged them to watch their speed lomit when driving.
