Lagos government seals off hotel for noise pollution
The Lagos state government has once again sealed off another building in Lagos recently. The building that was sealed of this time is a hotel in Lagos. The Hotel has been identified as Carizma Luxury Hotel and suites. The hotel is located at Abule Egba area in Lagos state. The news was revealed by the agency who sealed off the hotel which is the Lagos state environmental protection agency (LASEPA). This agency is the official environmental regulator for Lagos state.
They disclosed that the reason they sealed off the hotel was because of noise pollution. Recall just a few days ago, a Lagos club named Quilox was also sealed off for safety reasons and a few weeks ago, several event centers were closed for safety reasons as well. LASEPA revealed that sealing this hotel for noise pollution was in furtherance of their campaign against noise pollution and other environmental infractions in Lagos state.
They revealed that they had sent multiple warnings to the management of this hotel and holding several meetings with them to which they agreed with the guidelines set by LASEPA, but they still refused to comply with the noise levels that was set for them. LASEPA then made the decision on Wednesday, 27th of December to seal off the hotel. They revealed that their decision was finalized after the hotel violated the terms that were outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding that they had signed earlier. The set rules was that the hotel must seize all noisy activities after 10pm and also follow the noise levels set.
