Lagos school shut down over defilement of 4 year old.
A school in Lagos state has been shut down recently due to the case of the defilement of a 4 year old child. It was the Lagos State Government shut down this school on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
The school which was shut down by the state government is Greater Scholars International School. The school is located in the Ajah area of the state. The reason behind this was over the defilement of a 4 year old pupil.
This pupil who was defiled attends this particular school. The child had been sexually assaulted by the security guard of the school. The suspect has been identified as David James who is 23 years old.
The incident occured on the 27th of April, 2023. This man had acted under the guise of cleaning her up when he declared the young child. Investigation commenced into this case and the man was arrested for his crimes and was also arraigned in the court and he was then remanded.
He was arraigned before Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi of Magistrate’s Court 1, Ogba. This was on one count of sexual assault. The case is still ongoing and the court will be resuming this case on the 4th of September 2023.
Recall the parents of the young victim, Mr and Mrs Olusola had called out on the state government to intervene and shut down the school. This was on the 25th of May, 2023 which was a few weeks after the incident ocuured.
A protest had been held at the gate of this school and it was there the patents revealed in an interview that the state government should take action.
It was some concerned parents of other children in the school, some friends of the family of the victim and some others who held the protest at the school gate. They went there to demand for justice for the child who was assaulted as well as the shut down of this school.
Action has now been taken as the state Ministry of Education has closed down the school.
The father of the pupil has spoken up about this. He shared that “This means Lagos State Government is working and is willing to do the right thing. We are happy that justice will be served.”
