In the Lagos House of Assembly inauguration held in Alausa, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commenced the ceremony by proclaiming the 10th Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In his speech, he stated that he is ready to collaborate with the Assembly members for a better Lagos to restore the dreams of all Lagosians.
The elected members to take up the mantle of leadership are:
1. Lasbat Meranda (Apapa 1) as Deputy Speaker
2. Noheem Adams (Eti-Osa 1) as Majority Leader
3. Damola Kasunmu (Ikeja 2) as Deputy Majority Leader
4. Mojeed Fatai (Ibeju Lekki 1) as Chief Whip
5. Setonji David (Badagry 2), elected as Deputy Chief Whip
6. Mudashiru Obasa, elected as the speaker of the 10th assembly
Recall that Mudashiru Obasa previously represented the Agege 1 Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
At the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that cooperation and mutual respect should be top of mind, and members should remember that they are partners in the democratic journey.
In his words, "legislature is an indispensable pillar of our democracy” and “the embodiment of the hopes and aspirations of our people, a crucial partner in the quest for good governance, and a custodian of our shared democratic values.”
