Lagos State Commissioner of Police denies widespread claims of violence
Mr Idowu Owohunwa who is the Lagos State Commissioner has come out to deny the claims of violence in the gubernatorial elections which were held yesterday, March 18, 2023.
He denied all reports of violence which were widespread and also voter suspension in the elections. He mentioned this on Saturday during an interview.
He did confirm that some polin units experienced attacks on electoral officers but he denied it being a widespread case of violence.
He said that though there were instances where violence was recorded, it wasn't widespread as to affect the general dynamics of the electoral process.
He also mentioned that the police around were quick to respond to such attacks. He mentioned the response was swift because it was anticipated.
He also mentioned that the police made a lot of arrests and the ballot papers which were snatched were recovered.
