The Lagos State government has started removing the illegal street gates installed in the street of Lekki due to the intense traffic that has been recorded in recent times. Roads that are meant to be a free pass for motorists to lessen the rate of traffic have been blocked with gates, depriving motorists the access to take another route to their various destinations.

The Lagos State government in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has recommended the removal of these gates which were permanently closed around the Lekki phase 1 axis. The spokesperson Tokunbo Wahab announced this on the X page. The areas in Lekki Phase that will be affected but this policy include Sir Rufus Foluso Giwa Road, Olanrewaju Ninalowo Road Theophilus Oji Road, Ben Okagbue MBA Road, Osaro Isokpan Road, Abike Sulaiman Road, Siji Soetan, Olubunmi Rotimi Road, Dele Adedeji road, Abayomi Sonuga road, and Rasheed Alaba Williams roads.

Tokunbo then urged all resident associations whose estate gates were on a permanent lock to voluntarily unlock them so their men could perform their jobs by uninstalling the gates.
