Late governor Akeredolu's body arrives Nigeria from Germany
The body of the late governor of Ondo State has arrived in Nigeria. They flew the body in from Germany since he passed away over there. The body of the governor was received by his wife, whose name is Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, alongside his children, and his siblings who were led by the immediate younger brother of the deceased, Prof. Wole Akeredolu. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was the former governor of Ondo State. He served as the governor until he passed away a few weeks ago.
It was the spokesperson and chief press secretary of the late governor Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde, who shared the information in a recent post on twitter. He shared that the plane conveying the body arrived in Nigeria at about 3:39 p.m. on Friday, the 5th of January, 2024. He disclosed that the late Governor’s remains were brought into Nigeria from Germany. The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde at the location to receive the body. 6 other governors from the six states of the Southwest region of Nigeria which are Ekiti, Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, and Osun, have revealed that they collaborate with the new Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Akeredolu family to give Akeredolu a befitting burial. They set up a joint committee sp as to carry this out.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti state and others were present at the condolence visit to the Akeredolu family. The late Governor Akeredolu passed away on the 26th of December 2023. His body has been deposited in the morgue for the main time until the burial has been done. The family will share the burial arrangements later on.
