The Lagos State Sexual Offences Court in Ikeja heard a testimony from a doctor who said that the 14-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually abused by James Olanrewaju, aka Baba Ijesha, was in fact molested and had a ruptured vagina which has since healed.

The testimony was given during Thursday's debates by Women At Risk International Foundation (WARIF) clinical director, Dr. Aneikan Makanjuola.

Makanjuola said during the cross-examination that closer examination of the survivor had also shown that the child was not sexually active prior to the incident.

She testified before Judge Toyin Taiwo on charges of alleged sexual assault brought against Baba Ijesha by the Lagos State government.

The witness, who said the minor had been referred to her organization by the Nigerian State Criminal Police Office (SCID), clarified the circumstances that led to the report.

According to the report, the report was not based on what the survivors told them or on their mother's account, but on the forensic examination that was carried out on her.

"Based on our results, we sent our clients to the laboratory for another test for HIV 1 and II, hepatitis B and C," Makanjuola told the court. “They were all negative. We gave her (the victim) prophylactic antibiotics.

“She was sent for a psychological examination and we made a report of our findings and examinations. I certified the report as the head of the clinical service and sent it to the Panti State Criminal Investigation Department. "

The witness testified that the examination of the victim was carried out by medical staff and a psychologist.

After hearing Makanjuola's testimony, Judge Taiwo adjourned the case to November 5th and 12th.
