Hamza Choudhury has been charged with drink-driving and he is set to receive appropriate punishments for his actions.

The police said officers pulled over a vehicle in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, at about 01:45 GMT on Friday, January 19, 2024.

The force added that “a man” was apprehended on suspicion of refusing to provide a specimen of breath.

The Leicester City midfielder has since been charged with driving despite being overly intoxicated.

Choudhury is additionally accused of driving without due care and attention and failing to cooperate with a preliminary test.

Subsequent reports have indicated that Hamza Choudhury has been released on unconditional bail and is expected before magistrates in Nottingham on February 23, 2024.

The midfielder was in action for Championship club Leicester City in their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Choudhury put on an impressive showing in the game, playing all 90 minutes for his side, as they shared the spoils with 2nd-placed Ipswich Town.

The Foxes have garnered 66 points in the league this term from 28 matches, and they sit at the summit of the Championship table, in a favorable position, aiming to return to the top flight.

Meanwhile, Leicester City have declined to comment on the situation, as the club apparently does not want to meddle in legal matters.

Hamza Choudhury has been with the Foxes since 2015, having joined the youth teams of the club.

He has had loan spells at Burton Albion and Watford, with these loan moves helping him in the development of his career.

Choudhury's current deal with Leicester City runs until June 30, 2027, having signed a four-year deal with the club on June 5, 2023.

The Englishman has made 25 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side this campaign, scoring no goal and providing no assist in all competitions.

Hamza has won just 2 trophies in his career, notably; the 2020/21 FA Cup title, and the 2021 FA Community Shield.

Cumulatively, Hamza Choudhury has made 109 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Leicester City return to action on Saturday, January 27, 2024, facing Birmingham City, in an FA Cup 4th Round clash at the King Power Stadium.

The 2015/16 Premier League champions are aiming to return to the top flight and they are doing all that is needed, to achieve their aim.

They were utterly poor under the tutelage of Brendan Rogers in the 2022/23 season and that resulted in the club dropping to the Championship.

However, Leicester City have not laid back as they have bounced back impressively and are now in sight of returning to the English Premier League.
