Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has taken the blame for Arsenal's second goal against Liverpool in the crucial Premier League game on Sunday, February 4.

Gabriel Martinelli capitalized on Liverpool's blunder due to poor communication between Van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson to fire Arsenal ahead with a beautiful goal.

After the 3-1 loss to Arsenal, the Liverpool captain said, "It's been a very tough day. I take full responsibility for Martinelli’s goal, as that was a turning point in the match and I should have done better."

"It’s a split decision, and I chose to let the ball bounce, try, and put my body in between. Alisson touched me a little bit, and that’s why he couldn’t clear it properly."

“It hurts, and it hurts for the rest of the team, but especially for me. It was a big turning point. These things have not happened too many times in my career, but I will recover as I learn from things that don’t go well.”

Alisson also committed a blunder to give Arsenal their third goal of the game through the boots of Leandro Trossard.

The Gunners are currently two points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table. Arsenal are back to the title race after recording three wins from their last three matches.

However, Manchester City are likely to move to the top of the Premier League table if they win their two games in hand.
