Liverpool's duo of Allison Becker and Diogo Jota are set to be unavailable for the coming matches due to injury.
The pair picked up a knock during Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Saturday, November 30, 2023.
Providing an update on the injury, manager Jurgen Klopp indicated that Allison's injury is not a serious one, but he will be absent from matches for about two weeks.
However, Jota looks to be the one with a more severe injury, as no timeframe has been put on his recovery.
“Both are out, With Ali it’s a bit lesser, so we have to see – not day by day, he will not play tomorrow, not on Sunday, probably not the week after. Then it should be kind of OK.”
Diogo Jota was substituted in the 54th minute for Luis Diaz due to a knock, while Allison Becker completed the entire 90 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
When questioned concerning the injury to Allison Becker, having indicated that it wasn't as bad as first feared, Klopp said:. “He will not play tomorrow Thursday, not on Sunday, probably not the week after. Then it should be kind of OK.
“Diogo will take a little bit longer, we don't know exactly how long, but it's a bit more severe. We have to see.”
Liverpool welcome Austrian side Lask in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, November 30, 2023, before facing Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
The Reds have had an impressive start to the campaign, sitting 3rd on the Premier League table with 28 points.
They are also on the brink of securing progression to the next round of the Europa League, as a win against their Austrian opposition will confirm their qualification to the next round.
Allison Becker and Diogo Jota have contributed their quota to the success of the team in recent weeks and as such, they will be missed.
However, Liverpool have got good enough players to deputize in the absence of these players, including; Adrian and Kelleher for Allison or Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo for Jota.
The Reds have an interesting list of matches lined up for December, with games against Manchester United and Arsenal to be played on the 17th and 23rd of December respectively.
These games could tell which way the title could swing this campaign, or the likely changer to Manchester City for the league crown.
Jurgen Klopp's side basically bashed Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield last campaign, and they will be hoping to pick up a resounding victory when they clash in December.
However, Arsenal troubled the Reds last campaign in both outings, with the Gunners picking up 4 points from a possible 6.
The Merseyside-based club will be looking to test their mettle against Mikel Arteta's side, who defeated them 3-2 at the Emirates and played out a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
