Erling Haaland gave the Premier League champions the lead in the first half before Trent Alexander-Arnold leveled late on to secure a point for the Reds.

Following the tie, Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp were spotted shaking hands right after the full-time whistle.

However, Nunez, 24, seemed to be enraged by the City manager as he approached the Spaniard, engaging in a heated conversation.

The reason behind the tense exchange between the two is yet unknown, but Klopp had to drag the Liverpool forward away from the Spaniard.

While providing commentary for the game, Peter Drury responded to the altercation as it was occurring, saying: "There are apparently some unpleasant words being exchanged."

"Darwin Nunez involved in a spiky exchange with Pep Guardiola. They needed separation."

Haaland broke Andy Cole's record to become the fastest player to reach fifty Premier League goals with a record-breaking strike that gave City the lead in the first half.

With his brilliant first goal against the Reds, the Norwegian star continued his incredible form that began when he joined Manchester City for £51 million in 2022.

In just 48 league games, he accomplished the milestone; Manchester United legend Cole needed 65 games to accomplish the same.

In the end, Alexander-Arnold's incredible shot guaranteed that Man City took a point as Liverpool pegged them back.

Despite the draw at home to Klopp's side, City remained top of the league but it did not last as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal went top with a victory over Brentford on Saturday evening.

Klopp's team, Liverpool, is one point behind the champions and now sits in second place.

The Merseyside team's next league game is at Anfield against Fulham after they welcome LASK on Thursday.
