Luton Town Captain Tom Lockyer had been discharged from the hospital after he suffered cardiac arrest in a Premier League match against high flying Bournemouth on December 16, 2023.
Lockyer left the hospital on December 20, 2023 after he was implanted with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator which will prevent the reoccurrence of such incident in future.
Luton Town confirmed his released from the hospital with a club official statement which reads: "We are thankful to report that our captain Tom Lockyer has now begun a period of rehabilitation from the comfort of his own home".
"This encouraging news follows a successful procedure that took place on Tuesday whereby Tom had an ICD device fitted to prevent a repeat of Saturday's incident."
The match between Bournemouth and Luton Town was abandoned after Lockyer fell to his feet.
The match will have to be played for another 90 minutes instead of continuing from the 1-1 scoreline they were playing at 59th minute.
Note that was not the first time, the collapse happened. During Luton Town play off in the Championship in Wembley on May 27, 2023 against Coventry.
It was revealed that the player suffered from atrial fibrillation which remains the main root of the cardiac arrest. Lockyer went through heart surgery before resuming his playing career.
