Major Bridge collapses in Plateau state due to heavy rainfall
A major bridge in Plateau state has collapsed due to the amount of rainfall in that area recently. This bridge is located in the Shendam local government area of Plateau and it is a major route which is plyed by the people in the communities in that local government area in Plateau state.
The bridge is the major road that leads to Tunkus in Mikang local government area. The residents of Mikang depend in this bridge because it connects them with other areas.Due to heavy rainfall which has been consistent in this area, a section of the bridge has collapsed. This had led to a serious issue for the communities plying this route.
The people may have to resort to alternative routes to reach other towns. Residents are grateful that no life was lost as a result of this incident. They however lamented over the hitch in smooth transport over this incident. The resident revealed that going through other routes would be an additional cost of transportation especially in his period of petrol subsidy removal.
The residents have begun pleading with the government to attend to the situation fast to avoid people risking their lives by still using this Bridge the way it is.
The residents also mentioned that this isn't the first time the bridge will collapse. They shared shared it happened In 2012 and it was reconstructed.
