Makinde renames University after the late Ajimobi

The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has rnamed the state Technical University after the late Ajimobi.

Makinde has with this act immortalized the former Governor of oyo state in person of Abiola Ajimobi.
He renamed the state-owned First Technical University (Tech-U), Ibadan, after Ajimobi.

Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi was a Nigerian politician. He served as governor of Oyo State from the year 2011 to 2019.

He contested under the party Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011.
He was 70 when he passed.

Seyi Makinde announced this at the 2nd Convocation Ceremony of the affore mentioned institution, and this was during his speech. This happened at the first Technical University Hall in Oyo State.

He also revealed that before the end of April his administration would put the Governing Council of the institution in place.

The also mentioned that they would approve a Category 3 Primary Health Centre for the university.

He stated that this facility would provide continuous and comprehensive care for the students and also all the staff of the institution.

He also mentioned that his administration has increased the level of acces to education and they did this by increasing the number of universities which are owned by Oyo State. They increased the number from 1½ universities in 2019 to 3 universities.

He also added that the ranking of Oyo State in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations has improved greatly since 2019.

He went ahead to commend the efforts of the Management of the university.

He also encouraged those graduating to be good ambassadors of the school and state at large.

He looked at the progress the university has made so far and mentioned that it was a good day to honour his predecessor, who was the one who established the university.

He then announced the decision to rename the university the Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan.

Prior to this, Prof Adesola Ajayi who is the Vice Chancellor of the university, had revealed that the presence of the governor, Seyi Makinde had been of great encouragement to the university and community.

He appreciated the governor and the oyo state government for their support thus far.
